Dear all,
We are at the heart of Highbury, just off Upper Street and around the corner from Highbury & Islington station inviting children locally and from other boroughs. We have a diverse intake of children, families and staff of which we pride ourselves in immersing children in a community where they can see themselves represented and learn about other people and their lives. Our new curriculum has a large focus on belonging and representation to ensure every child can thrive knowing they can achieve greatness.
We have a fully integrated Deaf Provision as part of our mainstream school and invite children from all over London to be part of our community. We are proud to have both children and staff who are part of the Deaf community and embrace Deaf role models for our children across the whole school. I feel proud to be the Headteacher of a school that gives children such an incredible start to life in a fully inclusive school.
I work alongside a fantastic, dedicated and creative team of professionals all of whom strive for the very best for every stakeholder in our school. We pride ourselves by putting the children first, ensuring our new initiatives support their learning, enjoyment and wellbeing and – like many Primary professionals - love to pretend we are big kids too!
We immerse every child in our creative curriculum to encourage curiosity and to inspire their future goals and aspirations in life. Our ethos of learning ensures our children learn from mistakes to overcome hurdles and build resilience. Being surrounded by a friendly and respectful environment invites our children to be courageous while feeling safe. As Head Teacher, I am committed to continuing to build on our curriculum and ensure that our ethos and values stay at the very heart of everything we do.
Throughout the year of 2022/23, we are focusing our school’s attention to 5 priorities to ensure the very best for our children, including their experience at school, outcomes in KS2 and inclusion and sense of belonging for all. You will see these priorities being addressed over the coming year by all stakeholders, but for us to succeed, we will need your help! We will be inviting you to workshops, assemblies, parent meetings and open evenings; I look forward to working with you to help drive our school to great success.
For anyone new looking at Laycock Primary school, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the office to request a visit to our wonderful school.
Of course, anyone who works in a school is a big kid at heart and will get fully involved in every activity, whether it be World Music day, new equipment in the playground or Movember!
Do come and join the wonder that is Laycock.
Yours sincerely,
Fred Hall
