Interim Executive Board

20th November 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Secretary of State had consented to the appointment of an Interim Executive Board (IEB) at Laycock Primary School. I am writing to introduce myself as the newly appointed Chair of the Laycock Primary School Interim Executive Board (IEB) and to inform you of our establishment. An Interim Executive Board (IEB) is an appointed body of individuals who are responsible for overseeing and governing a primary school during a period of significant change or challenge.

The IEB is responsible for carrying out the functions of the governing body, including setting the school’s strategic direction, monitoring progress against targets, and ensuring that the school is compliant with legal requirements and best practices. Overall, the role of the IEB is to provide effective governance and leadership by bringing together a team of experienced individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to address the school’s specific challenges. The members are;

Prudence (Prue) Barnes-Kemp (Chair)

Janine Killough

Councillor Heather Staff

Martin Thacker

Sabrina Byran

I am visiting the school tomorrow and the IEB plan to meet with parents and carers at the school at 3:45pm on Wednesday 29th November 2023 prior to the inaugural board meeting. Whilst writing, I would like to reassure you that the Interim Executive Board (IEB) will be working closely with Islington Council and the school to overcome the challenges currently faced and to secure the school for the future. Please ensure that day-to-day issues around your child and school continue to be discussed with the staff team or Mr Hall or Ms Lewis as appropriate.

I look forward to working with you.

Ms. Barnes-Kemp

Chair of the IEB
